Carson is a Senior at Arlington High School. He started Carson Cares at the age of six and to see more of the Carson Cares history, click here. Carson has always had the desire to make the world a better place, and he strives to do so not only through Carson Cares but also in his personal life. Carson is in the National Honor Society at Arlington High School and he serves as the Social Chair during the 2017-2018 school year. Carson will also be a representative of the Senior Class in the Student Council at AHS during the 2017-2018 school year. He has won several awards for his service to the community, including an award from Radio Disney and Kohl’s Department Stores’ Kohl’s Cares Scholarship Regional Winner in 2013 and several more. He also served on the GenerationOn Youth Advisory Council and in Youth Leadership Arlington class of 2017. Through Carson Cares, he speaks to the community about Carson Cares and the importance of volunteerism in general. In his free time, Carson enjoys dabbling in photography and graphic design and he plays golf for Arlington High’s Varsity team. He hopes to major in Marketing in college with a minor in Advertising.
Isaac is a Senior at Arlington High School. Besides serving on the Youth Advisory Board of Carson Cares, Isaac volunteers through the Arlington Teen Court Program where he serves on the Citizen Advisory Board and represents first time teen offenders as an attorney. Isaac is also the founder of Stick It to Homophobia, a charity that sells stickers to benefit The Trevor Project. He leads multiple school organizations, currently serving as President of the National Honor Society and President of the Straights and Gays for Equality Club. A member of the Arlington High School Speech and Debate Team, Isaac was a 2016 and 2017 regional qualifier in Extemporaneous Informative Speaking. He is a recognized leader outside of school, earning the rank of Eagle Scout at the age of 14 and graduating in the Youth Leadership Arlington Class of 2017. In April, Isaac was named one of Arlington’s Youth Service Leaders of the Year. He excels in school as a National Merit Semifinalist and is ranked number 8 in the senior class. In March, Isaac was named the Richard Greene Scholar from Arlington High School for the 2017-2018 school year. He enjoys keeping up with politics and is currently completing an internship with a U.S. Congressional campaign. In the future, Isaac wants to major in political science and attend law school. Isaac is a great leader and incredible servant of the community.
Shahwana is a Senior at Arlington High School. She is a very hard-working, caring, student who loves to help her community in any way that she can. Shahwana attends Arlington High School where she is involved in her school’s photography program, as well as the National Honor Society. She is also a very loving older sister to her younger brother. Shahwana makes a difference in her community, not only by serving on the board of Carson Cares, but also on her own by mentoring children through the PALs (Peer Assisted Leadership) class. They visit junior high schools and mentor students who might need extra help, as well as teaching classes important life lessons. Shahwana gets good grades and is number 26 in the Junior Class. She is an exceptional volunteer, and she is definitely someone who the youth of Arlington can look up to.
Angel Hill is currently a sixteen year old junior at Arlington High School. He is enrolled in the IB program and is currently ranked at number 9 of the class of 2019. He plays soccer and is currently involved in many extracurricular activities at school. He plans to study civil engineering and attend Stanford Univeristy. He has a younger brother, Noah, and an older sister, Andrea. Angel enjoys spending time with his family and driving RC cars with his dad and brother. Also, he enjoys spending time talking to God and studing His Word. He also enjoys telling others of God's grace and glory, and Jesus' gift of salvation.
Gillian Neff is a current junior at Arlington High School. She is on the Colt Kickers drill team and is the class secretary of the class of 2019. Gillian is ranked in the top 4% of her class and is involved in Key Club and HOSA. Gillian loves to spend her time outside of school by volunteering in anyway she can. Gillian has helped organizations such as the World Vision Hunger project and Habitat for Humanity. She loves to dance and kick along with her team and will always enjoy time with her two rescue dogs.
Grace Ressl was born in Arlington, TX in 2005. She had a passion for art at an early age, and still loves being creative. She went to Swift Elementary from Kindergarten to Fourth grade. Both of her parents worked for UT Arlington and she learned how to get involved and help others in the community with them. She then joined the Girl Scouts in the First grade. Her favorite project was growing vegetables at the Community Garden to donate to Mission Arlington. She transferred to Duff in Fifth grade, and has recently graduated from there. She began horseback riding after having a passion for horses and horse camps. In her first show, she placed fifth and one year later, won first place after putting in lots of hard work and going to weekly lessons. She loves school and hopes to become a forensic artist after college.
Molly Ruby is an active and creative young girl who loves helping other people. She has volunteered her time at animal shelters and senior care homes for her Girl Scout troop. Molly participates in volleyball and soccer and is still a straight A student. In her free time, she enjoys painting and spending time with her friends.
Noah Ruby was born in 2002. He attended Beckham Elementary until 4th grade, when he transferred to Duff Elementary. He played basketball for several years. After Duff, he went to Bailey Junior High, where he focused on track and cross-country. After the two years at Bailey, Noah decided not to go to Arlington High School, and instead attends Martin High School to be a part of the STEM (Science Technology Engineering & Mathematics). He is currently a sophomore at Martin.
Pilar Campos was born on December 27, 2000. Over the years, she has been an avid member of many clubs and activities. Her proudest accomplishments are being a leader in United Sound and sticking with Girl Scouts for over 10 years. In fact, Pilar has not only been a valuable asset in Arlington High School's top orchestra, but she has been playing for six years. She loves adventure and is up for a challenge anywhere she goes. As she continues to live her life, she would love to spread her kindness and help others through community services. Pilar is also an outstanding student, currently placing in the top 4% of the junior class. She currently resides in Arlington, Texas with her 3 cats and many friends and family.
Sam Whipple was born on July 18, 2005. When he was 8 years old. he joined the Boy Scouts, he is a tenderfoot right now, but hopes to become an Eagle Scout in the future. He is a seventh grader at Carter Junior High and loves math, a subject he believes is the easiest. He enjoys volunteering with Carson Cares, playing outside, and playing games. He has placed 3rd in a chess tournament in 2014 and also placed 3rd for the Sherie Grove Youth Service Leader of the Year Award on April 15, 2016. He hopes to become an architect when he grows up.
Jenna Brooke is a caring, talented 8th grader. She enjoys being involved in school activities and excelling in her schoolwork. She loves music, animals and helping those in need.
LaShaunn Bold has been the Carson Cares Board Secretary for 10 years. She enjoys participating in the planning and facilitation of every Carson Cares event. Her desire to be part of a thriving community fuels her passion for helping others. As the proud parent of the youth founder of Carson Cares, LaShaunn is excited about the vision Carson has for the future of Carson Cares. and creating long lasting SERVE. opportunities for kids in our community. She currently is on faculty in the School of Social Work at UTA.
Emma is a Senior at Arlington High School where she is the Vice President of the National Honor Society, as well as Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper, The Colt. She is in the International Baccalaureate program as well. Outside of school, she has three younger siblings and two dogs that she loves to hang out with. Emma enjoys anchoring AISD-TV, the school district’s weekly news show, as well as interning with the AISD telecommunications department. In 2016 she received the Sheris Growe Youth Service Leader of the Year award. After high school, Emma hopes to go to college out of state and study political science and broadcast journalism. Post-college she wishes to join the Peace Corps as either an English teacher or a community youth development director. Then she wants to pursue either political broadcast journalism, or be an overseas correspondent for a news company.
