Where We Came From

Carson met children of SafeHaven in 2006 at the age of six when his mom worked there. Carson volunteered at Camp Heart and grew a heart of his own for these unfortunate children. Carson's first lemonade stand ever was just for fun in summer 2007 and raised just $22. At that time, Carson said, "I want to give the money to SafeHaven." Carson Cares, the organization was started in all 2007. That year, Carson was nominated for a Disney Family Magazine Kids Who Care contest and in 2008 SafeHaven of Tarrant County received $1,000 from Disney as a result. Then, in 2008 the lemonade stand raised approximately $227. In the fall of 2008, a web site was developed to help Carson let others know about helping people in need. The 2009 Lemonade Stand Yard Sale brought $800 (approx). All the funds were used to send kids to Camp Heart at SafeHaven. The 2010 LemonAID Stand Yard Sale raised over $900 (approx). Funds were used to send SafeHaven kids to fun activities during the summer and to provide monthly activities and stockings for children during the holidays. Carson Cares offers tons of opportunities for people to give back. We host several events throughout the year that are open to anyone who wants to help. Today our LemonAID Stand and Yard Sale raises over $2000 annually. We also have a campaign called SERVE. where volunteers of all ages are given monthly opportunities to give back to the community. We help organizations like Mission Arlington, Operation Christmas Child, Women's Center, Arlington Pregnancy Center, and Alliance For Children as well as any other giving opportunity that comes our way.

My goal is to change the way our world views service by showing our youth that giving back is a crucial part of our society. Without individuals helping improve their community, our world can never be a place where we all want to live.
